Mental Health & Wellbeing Support at Derby Women’s Centre

Providing mental health support to women in Derby and Derbyshire is one of our key priorities. According to research from MIND, women are more likely to suffer from mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. Our mental health support includes counselling, a support group, therapeutic and confidence building activities and complementary therapies.

Women’s Counselling

We provide low cost counselling support to help women in Derby and Derbyshire to help them to overcome a range of issues. This is delivered by female counsellors, who range from the experienced to the newly qualified. There is currently a 12 week turnaround time from referral to initial assessment. Derby Women’s Swans Walking Group

Our service-user led walking group meets on the second Friday of every month. The group has both therapeutic and social benefits. Many of our current members feel that they benefit from gentle walking to improve their wellbeing, and we always stop for a coffee and chat en route. Walks will aim to take place within walking distance of our location in Derby city centre. For more information, please call 01332 341633. When? The group next meets on Friday 9th December from 10 am to 1 pm.

Yoga and Relaxation 

We will be delivering relaxation and gentle yoga classes from early January. The group is open to women aged 18+, of all abilities.

When? On the first Tuesday of each month. The next session is on Tuesday 6th December from 11 am to 12 noon.

Therapeutic Dance Sessions

We are delivering a new 10 week programme of therapeutic dance sessions. These are a fun way to get more active while also helping to build confidence and improve mental health.

When? Wednesdays from 1-3 pm until further notice.

Relaxed Theatre Sessions 

 This is a fun series of workshops using entertaining theatre games and exercises that will progress into gentle yoga and relaxing breathing exercises.
