The Womens centre featured on Sunday 15 October East Midlands Today news bulletins with an interview with the leader of Derby City Council, Cllr Banwait. The centre has been raising funds since featuring on BBC East Midlands at the beginning and end of September this year whilst facing iminent closure. Since featuring the centre has secured through kind donations from the public and business communities enough money to provide services and run events through to Christmas this year. We hope that the kindness and support continues through to the end of this year and into the new year, we have a number of ways people and business can donate and the links are all on our website.
Cllr Banwait was asked whether the council would after five years or more provide funding to the centre as it was clear that Derby City still made referrals and that the centre was therefore an important and vital resource.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do keep supporting the centre and it’s vital work, at the start of September the centres future was bleak, we faced iminent closure – we rolled up our sleeves and through the generosity of the Derby people and business we can for now remain part of the Derby and Derbyshire community.
