DWC patron Parween Warsi adds her support to campaign to save the centre

Derby Telegraph today published an article about the invaluable support Derby Women’s Centre has received from its patrons, as local businesswoman Parween Warsi CBE added her voice to the campaign to save the centre from Derby City Council’s funding cuts. In a statement, Mrs. Warsi said: I am deeply saddened to hear that Derby City Council has proposed to cut the funding of Derby Women’s Centre, which plays a vital role in supporting vulnerable women in Derby.

DWC still going strong despite threats to funding

Last September, Derby City Council informed us that they would cut Derby Women’s Centre’s funding from March 2012. The council opened a consultation with the public and invited the centre’s service users and partners to put their views on this proposal forward. The council is reviewing the responses and they will announce their final decision in February. Thank you to all of those who supported the centre during the consultation. We hope that the council will decide to reverse its proposal.
