Enjoy Wayne Rooney’s goal for England on Tuesday night? So did we! Derby Women’s Centre kicked up a fundraisng storm last night during the England match as some of our kind and generous followers pledged to donate 5 pounds for every England goal scored to the Women’s Centre.
We raised a total of 60 pounds from Wayne Rooney’s spectacular tap-in at the beginning of the second half of England’s tense game against Ukraine last night.
We’d like to say a big thank you to all those who donated, particularly to our patrons Kavita Oberoi and Parween Warsi, who donated 20 pounds for Rooney’s goal. Thanks are also due to Ray Gumbly of Age Concern, whose idea it was to pledge five pounds for each goal scored to the Women’s Centre as well as to Age Concern’s Derby and Derbyshire branch.
We’d also like to say a big thank you to Wayne Rooney. Wayne, if you’re reading this, you’ve made everyone at the Women’s Centre extremely happy!
